Symmetry Breaking Boundary Conditions and Wzw Orbifolds
Symmetry breaking boundary conditions for WZW theories are discussed. We derive explicit formulae for the reflection coefficients in the presence of boundary conditions that preserve only an orbifold subalgebra with respect to an involutive automorphism of the chiral algebra. The characters and modular transformations of the corresponding orbifold theories are computed. Both inner and outer aut...
متن کاملOn Non-Classical Boundary Conditions
To determine the deformation of a body from the system of differential equations governing its thermo-mechanical deformations, we need side conditions such as boundary conditions. The most frequently employed boundary conditions are those of place and/or traction in a purely mechanical problem and of temperature and/or heat flux in a thermal problem. These and other more familiar mechanical bou...
متن کاملGeneralized additional boundary conditions for wire media
We generalize additional boundary conditions (ABCs) for wire media by including arbitrary wire junctions with impedance loading. Special attention is given to the conditions at the interface of two uniaxial wire media with metallic patches at the junction. The derived ABCs are validated against full-wave numerical simulations.
متن کاملRenormalization of quantum Anosov maps: reduction to fixed boundary conditions.
A renormalization scheme is introduced to study quantum Anosov maps (QAMs) on a torus for general boundary conditions (BCs), whose number ( k) is always finite. It is shown that the quasienergy eigenvalue problem of a QAM for all k BCs is exactly equivalent to that of the renormalized QAM (with Planck's constant Planck's over 2pi(') = Planck's over 2pi/k) at some fixed BCs that can be of four t...
متن کاملFinite Temperature Schwinger Model with Chirality Breaking Boundary Conditions
The Nf -flavour Schwinger Model on a finite space 0 ≤ x ≤ L and subject to bag-type boundary-conditions at x = 0 und x = L is solved at finite temperature T = 1/β. The boundary conditions depend on a real parameter θ and break the axial flavour symmetry. We argue that this approach is more appropriate to study the broken phases than introducing small quark masses, since all calculations can be ...
